Creativity matters … more than you imagine!

As the father of two young boys, I have become more and more interested in education and how to support them in the best way. A few months ago, I watched one of the most successful TED talks ever: Sir Ken Robinsons „Do Schools Kill Creativity?“ (watched more then 18million times at Youtube).

In his sparkling and entertaining speech, he points out that „creativity is as important in education as literacy and we should treat it with the same status“. Unfortunately, society has implemented educational systems that stigmatize mistakes. As a result, we educate the creativity out of our children. We are living in a world that is too focused on the left side of the brain (rationality) and does not support creativity (the right side of the brain) enough. The ongoing inflation of students with degrees will make it even more difficult to get a job in the future. An education more oriented on creativity will have positive effects on the intelligence of our children. They can use their creativity in all fields of work, it will help them to be more self-confident, and it will strengthen their ability to think out of the box.

This TED talk made me think about the school system itself, my role as a father, and if there is anything that I can share with the world to enhance the creativity for the upcoming generations. This is why I decided to use my almost 15 years of experience as an Exterior Car Designer to develop a creative program for children. The Design Workflow „Design Thinking“ (as we call it), can challenge children in a playful manner and support them to use their sparkling creativity throughout their lives. No matter if they want to achieve a career in the corporate world or live a life as an entrepreneur „Design Thinking“ will help them to always be prepared and find a solution no matter how the world changes in the future.
